“Noosa Northshore Beach Road Retreats” is an eco-tourism development at Noosa Northshore. JFP’s civil and water engineering team worked collaboratively on this project from inception, through to design and implementation. The retreats consisted of 41 eco-tourism cabins, access driveways and service routes focused on disturbed areas of the site.

In recognition that the site is located in a low nutrient and pH environment JFP’s integrated civil and water engineering team developed innovative methods for civil design and water quality treatment; which enabled compliance with Council’s strict environmental development guidelines.

One of the key site features was to ensure compliance with Council’s requirement for no net change to the volume and quality of runoff waters from the site and locations of such discharges without the use of conventional detention / bioretention basins.

Development was based on maintaining the ecological significance of the site and its surrounds by placing buildings lightly using minimal footprints within an existing setting without the need for removal of mature trees and location of access driveways predominantly following existing trails.
